2024 Guest Brewers

Our friends at Moksa have always impressed us with their beers, but once we got to know their team (thanks to Advisory Council member Josh Jackson) and witness their incredible generosity toward the New Avenues for Youth mission to end youth homelessness, we knew we had to get them up to Portland as Guest Brewers. Of course, they wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity, and are working on some fantastic collaborations for this year’s event – and beyond. We’re thrilled to have Head Brewer Cory Meyer and team as guests, and can’t wait to see what they have in store for us!

From the Moksa team:

Moksa Brewing is a small brewery in Rocklin, CA, founded in 2017 with a goal of always making beer that excites us, and trying to never be complacent about quality. Since the beginning we have always loved brewing a variety of bold, flavor-forward beers – from lagers to IPAs to fruited sours, and of course, plenty of imperial stouts and barleywines – for which we have dedicated a significant portion of our very limited space for barrel aging since nearly day one.

We first heard about Brews for New Avenues through some friends and family connections in Portland back in 2020, and after witnessing the incredible work they are doing, the fantastic people involved with the organization, and the outpouring of support from the Portland beer scene, we have been proud supporters ever since. We are looking forward to participating in Brews for New Avenues once again, and incredibly honored to have been selected as one of the featured breweries this year!

Beyond making some of our favorite beers in town, Little Beast Brewing has supported our cause since their inception. From saving our Brewer’s Dinner in 2021 by hosting us in their patio space when we were striking out elsewhere, to donating their best to tap and auction at the event, they’ve helped us in a multitude of ways. Charles and Brenda are also amazing people and friends – the Brews and Little Beast teams go way back. We love working with them and can’t wait to see what special collaborations and delicious libations they have for us this year!

From the Little Beast team:

Founded in 2017, Little Beast Brewing is a family-owned brewery crafting small batch beers from a 15-barrel system in Clackamas, Oregon. Inspired by the “little beasts” that transform water, barley, and hops into beer, they specialize in mixed culture fermentation, fruited, wild, and wood-aged beers, alongside mastering classic styles for a consistently enjoyable experience. Their southeast Portland taproom offers a unique setting in an old Craftsman home, with outdoor patios, and a relaxing porch for guests to savor their brews.

Founded by Charles Porter and Brenda Crow, Little Beast reflects their shared passion for good beer, fine food, and inspired craftsmanship. Charles, with a background in biology and brewing at renowned breweries like Deschutes, Full Sail & Logsdon Farmhouse Ales, brings deep expertise in brewing. Brenda, an expert in the world of artisanal ingredients, promotes the essence of good food. Together with their team, they steer Little Beast with attention to detail and a love for craft food and beer.

We support New Avenues for Youth because of their unwavering commitment to ending youth homelessness. By partnering with them, we contribute to a community where every youth has a chance to thrive, breaking the cycle of homelessness and creating lasting change. New Avenues’ proven track record and dedication align with our values of compassion and social responsibility, making them an ideal partner in our mission to make a positive impact on society.

2023 Guest Brewers

Legends who need no introduction, 3 Fonteinen brews and blends some of our favorite beers on the planet. Their respect for history and tradition are unmatched, but it is their distinct vision for the future that impresses us just as much. Their support of our cause goes above and beyond – past auction items like the 3F experience have not only raised considerable sums, but provided the winners with truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime windows into their world. Beyond that, they are pure class and some of the genuinely nicest people we know in the beer industry. We can’t wait to see how our collaboration turns out, and for what they’ll have in store for everyone at this year’s event!

From the 3 Fonteinen team:

Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen is one of the smallest and last remaining traditional lambik brewers and geuze blenders.

Founded in 1882 and rooted in the Senne valley, our team steadfastly pursues what Armand Debelder had envisioned all along for 3 Fonteinen. From brewing with heirloom varieties of barley, wheat and hops from local organic farmers, to reviving the Schaarbeekse sour cherry legacy, to slowing down the crafting process overall: The mission is to be true to the origins of lambik and to put quality and tradition above all.

Representing 3 Fonteinen at the events, Werner Van Obberghen, co-owner, started in 2013 to plan for the long term alongside Armand and Michaël Blancquaert. Nowadays, he is responsible for managing the business side. We are thrilled to welcome Werner to Portland for Brews 2023!

Beyond making some of the best beers in town across an incredibly large spectrum of styles, Ruse Brewing has wholeheartedly supported the New Avenues for Youth mission to end youth homelessness since their inception. From letting us use their cooler space to store donation kegs, hosting Cap & Cork Crew events, and donating their best to tap at the event, to using the Brews van at their outdoor beer garden, they’ve helped us in every way they can. They’re also amazing people and friends. We love working with them and can’t wait to see what’s they have for us this year!

From the Ruse team:

Ruse is a humbly sized brewery who plans its growth and makes all of its decisions with its team in mind. We love to brew beers of all styles without limitations; we are constantly trying to keep our patrons surprised. All of our beers are collaborative explorations between our brew team. Every brewer has creative say. Ruse does not have a Head Brewer – we believe this is what makes our beer unique and constantly evolving.

Ruse loves planning events, and we regularly have live music, local art shows and tons of other community events. We also love to pour beer out of the Brews for New Avenues van any chance we get! Although we are not a large brewery, we try to help out as often as possible. NAFY always hosts amazing events and it is great to see how much they are able to raise every year to help end youth homelessness. We can’t wait to see what kind of collaboration we are able to come up with the Brews for New Avenues team.
