Rate of Pay: Base $30k-$35k DOE plus 4% commission

New Avenues INK is a social enterprise owned and operated by New Avenues for Youth, a Portland non-profit agency providing comprehensive services to at-risk and homeless young people. New Avenues for Youth takes a complete approach to addressing youth homelessness and its root causes, delivering support and resources that enable youth served ages 14-24 to overcome barriers and realize their potential. New Avenues INK prints thousands of custom t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and so on each year while providing these youth transitional jobs in screen-printing to teach the job readiness skills needed to secure gainful future employment.
New Avenues INK seeks a dynamic, results-driven sales professional who is a self-starter, ready to work in a fast-paced environment and increase mission-driven sales. The ideal candidate must be able to hit the ground running and achieve quick, revenue-producing results, as well as be able to implement longer-term strategic sales objectives. As the lead sales person of New Avenues INK, this position reports to the Director of Social Purpose Enterprise, and manages the sales efforts for the New Avenues INK’s product lines and sales channels.
Working closely with the Director of Enterprise, the Sales Manager leads in the creation of sales strategy and objectives to project and achieve annual sales volume goals as well as ongoing growth of all product lines. This includes establishing and executing a realistic, aggressive action plan to accomplish this. Components of this plan include assisting the Director of Enterprise in the development of effective promotion strategies, sales channel promotions, and other innovative marketing initiatives. It also involves ensuring customer satisfaction by expediently addressing arising issues and providing effective solutions. In conjunction with the INK Business Manager, the Sales Manager also recommends product changes and product development opportunities based on consumer trends and customer feedback. The Sales Manager is further accountable for monitoring product costs and profitability which entails making fact based recommendations to continually maximize margins and results.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Very strong organizational, prioritization, and project management skills
- Well established interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a high pressure role with challenging deliverables
- Solid computer proficiency with MS Office products including Microsoft GP and CRM systems
- A desire to work with a highly diverse population
- A minimum of 5 years relevant marketing and sales experience with sales experience in screen printing a plus
- A history of successful sales and service of both large and small accounts; some with lengthy sales cycles
