The Drop-In Center Youth Advocate engages youth and maintains services through the Positive Youth Development model by providing guidance, information, and support to homeless youth at the New Avenues Drop-In Center. This position works with youth to identify and implement youth driven projects and programs. In conjunction with the Drop-In Team, this role also promotes a safe, clean, and supportive atmosphere within the center while assessing youth for housing, food, clothing, and support needs. In addition, this position participates in the planning and implementation of service plans for youth to facilitate their exit from street life.
Skills & Knowledge:
– Minimum two years of experience working with homeless or high-risk youth/young adults is required
– Desire and ability to work with multicultural staff and youth exercising exceptional patience and sensitivity
– Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
